Washington, D.C. Wedding
Working together on Capitol Hill, Meredith Gourash and Greg Dolan quickly added a new item to their agendas: spending the rest of their lives together. Before the Washington, D.C., residents started planning their wedding in the area, they reached out to The Event Group. Greg and his family have relied on the Pittsburgh event planning company to execute all of the major celebrations in their lives, so they knew the experts had to be a part of this one, too. “[Sheila Weiner] was phenomenal,” Meredith says. “We asked if she knew any D.C. vendors and she did. She was able to coordinate the whole thing.” The team achieved the couple’s “classic and clean” vision for the day, incorporating their navy, cream, gold, and pink color scheme in every detail. After saying their vows at the breathtaking Cathedral of St. Matthew the Apostle, the couple savored 10-15 minutes of quiet alone in the decorated Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium before the excitement of the reception began. “We wanted our whole wedding to be an awesome party,” Meredith says. Free Spirit set the mood for the fun night right away, playing three or four songs before guests took their seats. The band kept all 300 guests dancing throughout night, except when they took a break to enjoy the ice cream sandwich bar! Meredith and Greg even danced on the stage for a song, ending their performance with the groom crowd surfing. “It was seriously one of the greatest days,” Meredith says. “At the end of the day, we got married. Everything else was just an accessory.”
